Nina Café

Sigmund Freud at the Café Landtmann; Picasso at the Deux Magots; or even Humphrey Bogart in a fictional venue, the Café Américain: Cafés are so much more than a place to drink coffee.

As large coffee chains like Starbucks or Costa Coffee have entered the sector, different methods of order taking have evolved. Some traditional cafés offer the luxury of sit-down service at the table. Others rely on self-service with blended order-taking. Still others are self-service all the way (think gas stations).

The Nina Ordering System is designed to complement the ordering system of cafés with a discrete and customisable solution that fits different service requirements.

Option 1: Order at Table

In this option, customers can order from a QR code while seated at a table in your venue. (They can also choose to order directly from waitstaff, if you provide this service). But offering an online ordering option, you signal that you respect customers who need to be served faster. This does not change the fundamental culture of your café: it merely differentiates service for those customers that are in a hurry.

Option 2: Order and Pick Up

In this option, customers can sit at a table and order using the QR code, and then will be alerted when their order is ready for pick up at a service point. This avoids the long lines you often see in self-service chains like Starbucks, where 10-15 people can often be waiting. By offering this service, you signal respect of customers who may be older, or tired, or have a child or pet with them. Rather than making them wait in line, you allow them to bypass the line, assuming they have a little bit more time.

Option 3: Order and Take-Away

In the option, customers place an order using the QR code, and then can do something else while their order is being prepared. This frees up space and standing in line. Cafés can set aside a self-service, take-away point for such customers, making the overall customer experience better for everyone.

All the other advantages of using Nina Café continue:

  • Online ordering which is rapid and accurate and can integrate directly into your point of sale / cashier system.

  • Whenever you need to update your menu, this is done automatically and instantaneously on the Nina Ordering System. You no longer need to print out new menus.

  • Your guests can pay online or pay the wait staff, depending on how you want to set up the system.

  • You could choose to put the QR codes in a more distant outdoor venue (for example, a terrace) and reserve your closer, indoor spaces for service by waitstaff.

  • You now have analytics on each food service point, including the average order value, wait staff performance, menu item performance and more.

  • Tips for wait staff or counter staff can be included in Nina. This is typically a problem for many cafés offering self-service and can be demotivating for counter staff.

In addition to coffee, food and beverage, you can use Nina to sell a variety of other services, like newspapers or takeaway products.

We offer special prices for cafés with multiple venues. Please contact us for a personalised consultation at your convenience.
